The Nebraska motto is taken from the Great Seal and was adopted in 1867 :

"Equality before the law"

The Meaning of the Nebraska State Motto
The meaning of this famous motto reflects the deep conviction of all Americans that everyone who comes before the law is equal regardless of gender, color or creed. The motto is also known as equality under the law, equality in the eyes of the law, or legal equality, fairness, and justice. Equality before the law is one of the basic principles of liberalism. A similar phrase "Equal justice under law" is a engraved on the front of the United States Supreme Court building in Washington D.C.

The official nickname of Cornhusker State alludes to the corn crop and is a nickname for athletics squads and football teams from Nebraska is attested by 1903.

The Tree Planters
The Tree Planters nickname refers to the activities of the early settles who planted numerous trees for orchards and to act as windbreaks.  

The Blackwater
The Blackwater nickname relates to the black soil found in the region which makes the water in rivers and streams to turn black.

The Antelope State
Thousands of antelope once roamed the Nebraska plains. The pronghorn antelope, sometimes referred to as the prairie ghost, is found only on America's Great Plains.
